Forget “The Shack”, William P. Young’s new sequel “The Calf” has ignited a new level of controversy in the evangelical community. The yellow calf is “merely a metaphor for God” Young explained in an interview with The Debriefing. “No one actually believes the calf in the story is actually God. The calf is merely a mental image for God. My hope is that it would be graven in the minds of the reader so they they can know Him more fully.
Despite the controversy from conservative purists, “The Calf” movie adaption is set for hundreds of exclusive advanced showings in churches across the United States. Some estimates predict that the golden “Calf” will be projected before over five million Christians in this country alone.
